I had a similar problem a few months back, and it was the ribbon cable.

After installing a cd label program, and then uninstalling I had the same
problem. My CD rom player, was not recognised, Cal bear 66 got it spot on,
but do be careful in the registry.

Is the CD ROM driver recognized in the system BIOS?

Hey Cal Bear 66 loyal Jets fan here so I was glad to see Pats loose it.
Anyway thanks for all your advice but as usual with some of these computer
problems the drive was actually loosened and all I gad to do was push it back
in harder. LOL I wish these things were more idiot proof. Thanks Again Jamie

Glad you solved your problem.

I live in NYC and I guess I'm glad the Giants won.

(Cal Bears are the Golden Bears of the University of California, Berkeley, not
the Chicago Bears.)
