Two monitors - One of them not working by
nodummy
When I installed Vista I had a 2nd monitor hooked up to my laptop and when it
installed it was only using the 2nd monitor. I went to control panel/display
settings and tried to make the laptop screen the primary monitor but it would
not allow me too. I had to download the driver and install again and it came
up with an error message. I shutdown my computer and when it started there in

USB Drive Peculiar Behavior by
Tim Bostonia
Running Vista Enterprise RTM - I have two USB 2.0 drives... one 256MB that's
recognized by Vista as simply USBSTOR and a 512 MB Dell that Vista
recognizes as a "M-SysT5 Dell Memory Key USB Device"
Now the 256MB drive behaves normally (at least to me)... it comes up
immediately with "autoplay" prompting my action, e.g. "open folder", etc...
the Dell, on the other hand, either takes up to 3...

Soundmax in vista by
Dan
Hi,
I work on Vista and i have a P5P800 SE from Asus with a Soundmax chipset. I
have found on Windows Update a driver for this soundcard. But after a short
moment of using, the drivers apparently "shutdown", specialy on "skype". If
i go to"services" and i restart the Windows audio, the sound come back. Do
you have this problem or do you have a solution ?
Thanks

windows cant read drive by
Jon
Hi, I am running RC1. For some reason vista some times makes my second hard
drive not accessible. I am able to fix it by booting a norton tool but this
is a pain because then I have to delet the record and reformat and asign it a
drive letter. I cant figure out what causes this to happen. I did notice
before this happened that several of the programs that were running on that
drive either...

Hauppauge Win-TV PVR 350 by
kerry
I have a Win-TV PVR 350 running on RC1 Vista Ultimate. I'm receiving an
error from Media Center that there is a Decoder Error. Has anyone else
encountered and resolved this problem? The support site indicates that I
should be able to use Media Center with this version although I will not be
able to run Win-TV2K
Thanks in advance!

Having trouble making Vista recognize DVD-RW drive as recordable by
Roland Wooster
I'm using Vista Ultimate with an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard, and two DVD
drives connected to the JMicron IDE controller on the motherboard. One is a
player, one a recorder.
The problem is within Vista both only operate as players, Vista fails to
recognize the DVD +/- RW drive as a writer. I've read/studied/tried KB
article 316529 about CD-RW drives not being recognized in WinXP, however...

Older cable modems may need replacement by
Colin Barnhorst
After putting up with frequent dropped connections and in particular issues
with Win Mail newsgroup servers (timeouts, TCP/IP issues, etc), I assessed
my hardware and realized that my cable modem was almost five years old.
Simply replacing it with a new Motorola SB5101 completely solved this host
of connectivity issues with the internet and my home network. I had been
chasing my tail with...

64-bit drivers for Hauppague WinTV PVR USB2 by
dirty old man
According the this site:
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/vista.html
Drivers for the WinTV PVR USB2 for 64-bit Vista are Premium,
which I assume mean that they are included on the RTM disk.
Could someone with the WinTV PVR USB 2 and Vista x64
confirm this?

Vista Upgrade Advisor whines foolishly about Intel AHCI and USB Host Controllers by
mad-windows user
Why is Microsoft always so damn anal everytime they release a new
version of Windows?
I have 2 eSATA high capacity hard drives that work fine in XP Pro with
Intel drivers either inside the box as internal drives or as external
drives in enclosers as does my USB host controller supporting multiple
devices. Yet the Vista Upgrade Advisor nags "There is no compatibility

Filter Drivers stop working when USB port changed. by
Andyww
It seems that when a device using a filter driver is moved to a different USB
port, it stops working. The filter driver no longer works and needs to be
re-installed. In XP, when a device is moved to a different USB port, all
drivers stay intact.
In Vista the PC will do a new search for drivers for the device and
re-install them when found, but will not re-install the filter driver and
will...
