Default Loses static IP address, Vista Business

I have an IBM laptop with vista business. For home, I use the wireless
connection and for work, I use the wire connection. The work connection uses
a static ip address.

The first time, I went in the wire connection and set the ip address, mask,
gateway and DNS accordingly and everything works fine. After work, I put
the system to sleep and come in the next day and the static information is no
longer set in the connection.... Why? I change it back again, however I just
checked it again and the static information is no long there!

Also, coming out of sleep, the wireless connection is not found....had no
problem with XP or W2K... Have to log off and log back on....

Is there a solution to these problems?

Thx.
