Registry restore
Fairly straightforward question:
Say I back up my entire registry by exporting to a .reg file, saving it to the desktop. When I import that file into the registry, does it overwrite all the existing registry files? |

The registry is constantly changing and if you restore a registry backup, all of the changes made since that backup was created will be overwritten (Lost). It's better to use the System Restore component, which also includes a registry backup. This will prevent any corruption to the system. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience |
