Deleted Folders and Gifs Re-Appear
Recently I had the misfortune to place some 'Sexy Smilies' which took the place of standard Smilies. I followed instructions on how to remove these and found the folder where they were located and deleted this. I then emptied the recycle bin. If I now do a search the deleted folders are still showing and still containing these unwanted files. What is worse is that the original smileys have not re-appeared. Even after removing and reinstalling Messenger - they 'Sexy Smilies' still appear. When I search and the suspect file appears - if I try to delete it again, I'm told that the file no longer exists and do I wish to restore it - I'm baffled. I've noticed previously that if I delete jpg files, and if the jpg has been used for the display on a folder it still appears even after being deleted. The computer has had a number of boots, rests, and re-starts and chkdsk gives a clean bill of health. How can I get rid of these unwanted gif filles. I use MSN Messenger but this problem applies to Yahoo Messenger! Please help me - make them go away! -- Blade |

I would recommend posting to a forum where Yahoo Messenger is supported. The folks there would likely have an answer for this problem. Many of these 'smiley' programs act just like most 'malicious' software and they, very agressively, fight any attempt to be uninstalled. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Blade" wrote in message ... Deleted Folders and Gifs Re-Appear
Thanks for your help - but this is a Windows Vista problem - I also mentioned that personal *.jpg files (nothing to do with Yahoo Messenger) that had been deleted re-appear Showing up on folders even though the file has been deleted. -- Blade |

Actually, it's a malware problem. You might want to try a Google search for the name of that smiley program. You may find some links on how to remove it. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Blade" wrote in message ...
