Default Application Lost after upgrade

This is a 2.66Ghz laptop with 2GB memory. Office 2007 installed months
earlier. Machine upgraded to Vista Ultimate from XP Pro. The machine no
longer shows Office 2007 as an application. How can one troubleshoot this?
Could the files be on windows.old? Guidance sought on this and what is
contained in windows.old.

Just reinstall the application
and copy any data you need out of Windows.old
and transfer it to your present profile.

Once you are sure your Vista is up and running 100%
you may delete Windows.old

Hi,

Upgraded or custom installed? An upgrade would carry installed programs
over, a custom install may not (depending on the options that were
selected). Click start and type "word". If office is installed, it
(Microsoft Word) should show up in the menu. If it does not (all you get is
Wordpad), then you will need to reinstall your Office product from its
original installation media.

I see MS Office files in windows.old. Although I have the disc I write to
inquire if there is a way to 'make' Office 2007 appear in Vista's "All
programs". This could be a learning opportunity for me. Please advise

Hey Maurice,

The best advice would be to reinstall everything that you have on cd/dvd
including office, save any files that you still need out of the
windows.old folder and finaly when you are happy that the system is
working properly,delete the windows.old files
