When I right click a file to delete, it takes 20 seconds for the box to open
to where I can delete the file. How can this be sped up. Vista home basic. |

You didn't really give us any information about your system, so all I can offer are some general suggestions. Problems with slow right-click functions are usually caused by third-party software that shoves entries into the context menu. The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to disable these third-party (non-Microsoft) entries with the free ShellExView program. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm Manage the context-menu entries for folders, drives and Namespace objects - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm Another cause for slow deletion is if the hard drive is extremely full and/or no maintenance has been done; eg., deleting temporary files with Disk Cleanup, etc. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
