Default Vista Windows Update - the page failed to load - After Defender Update

Windows update shows "the page failed to load" on both my laptop
running Home Premium and desktop running Ultimate yesterday after
being prompted that Defender update was available. The last update
both machines did was a Defender update earlier that day or the
previous day. Restoring from a backup previous to the first update
solves the problem. Is the Defender update causing this? Anyone
else?

Default Vista Windows Update - the page failed to load - After Defender Up

Ya, I am having same issue, but had to do a full reinstall of Vista Home on
my laptop to get it to work, Desktop is Running Vista Business and a
re-install is not possible. Office 2003 has been going berzerk since then
too. Any help to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Why? What was wrong? What made you think a reinstallation was
necessary?

Desktop is Running Vista Business and a
re-install is not possible.

Why not?

I to did a restore before that defender update after reading your post. This did not help still getting page failed to load. Any other ideas out there? I guess I can just go update free from here on out.

Last time many times Windows Blinds is responsible for this issue
You can read the all threads:
1.'Windows update \"the page failed to load\"'
2.'The page failed to load, Vista Update'
3.'The page failed to load, Vista Update'
4.'Update page failed to load'

So summary item ,if you have installed WindowsBlinds then this
program is responsible for your issue and the best solution is uninstall
it completely, some persons try update this sometimes it help too but not
always
