to tom ziegman, please read (black screen on install)
i send you a personal e-mail, but maybe you would rather answer it here. Can
you conform that microsoft is aware of this and/or has a solution for this? My original message was: On my pc I have since the first beta2 of vista the problem that after installing it (installation seems to go well) I only get a black screen with the buildnumber at the right bottom en the mouse pointer. I have no serial mouse attached just a keyboard and a bluetooth mouse wich I want to install after logging into Vista but I can't because I only see this black screen. Does anyone know at microsoft what this problem is causing. Prior to insallation I ran Vista upgrade adviser. It told me that the harddiskdriver isn't compattible with Vista but when installing Vista I can see all my harddisks and it installes without problems so I don't think this has anything to do with it. I installed Vista with loading the beta SATA driver from Nvidia and Installed it a second time without loading a seperate driver (using the buildin driver form Vista) but both times the same sollution, the black screen. My system specs a Mobo Asus K8N4-E deluxe AMD 64 3200+ processor 2 x 1024 Gb Kingston memory 1 x 300 Gb Maxton SATA harddisk 1 x Geforce 6600LE videocard 1 x hauppauge 500MCE tv-card blue tooth microsoft mouse and keyboard when installing a use a normal keyboard but no mouse |

That is a Known Issue with Nvidia's Driver's.

Hello ReMeE,
Did Beta 2 work? If you still have your current 5536 install, please try booting into safe mode. If you can get into safe mode open computer management by clicking on the Start Orb and then typing 'compmgmt.msc' into the search box and press enter. Once in computer management open the event viewer and see if you find any entries in the System or Application logs that would cause a system hang. If you can not get into safe mode try doing a clean install and formatting the drive you are installing on first. It could be that the upgrade "failed" and Windows Setup decided to go on or there could be an underlying driver issue. No, beta 2 didn't work also. I did a clean installation with letting setup
format mij harddisk before starting the installation so it is not a upgrade issue. I will try to install Vista again and after this is finished and I see the black screen I will reset the computer and try to boot into safemode. I know I did this before and got a message that setup can't continue in safemode. Do you suggest to load the satadrivers from Nvidia or the standard vistadrivers during the installation?
