Default WMM 6.0 on Vista Home Premium - get's stuck while publishing

I created a project with Photos and videos from a Canon Digital Camera. I
had successfully published this project to a DV-AVI file once. But then when
I added some more pictures, transitions and video and publish it, it get's
stuck at 14%.

I already have the problem of it now showing a preview of the storyboard. It
shows preview from imported audio/video/music from the imported media
collection, and it also was showing preview of the story board when I started
the project. But then randomly stopped showing preview when something was
added in the project.

On top of that the WMM to WinDVD link does not work. I really want to
publish it directly to DVD, but when I click that option in WMM, it closes
WMM, opens WinDVD maker and it complains that zero files added. It I publish
to DV-AVI and then open WinDVD and add that file, it publishes the DVD, but I
think this is a long process, as it then encoded the DV-AVI again to a DVD
format.

I am sick that nothing has changed with Microsoft. I have a HP Pavilion
dv6245 laptop with 160 GB HDD, 1 GB Ram, T5300 Core 2 duo processor and an
external 300 GB HDD. This is plenty of horse power for this task.

Please help.
