After instaling vista Ultimate I can't get my External hard drive to work, my
USB hub, my USB sorage units, my scaner/printer and my external keyboard to
work. I only get a message that it can not recondise the sofware needed, but
some of it dont even have sofware like the USB hubs and units. and the hard
drive is just a hard drive right?? do i really need software for it??? Is
there a number i can call on this matter ??? It's just a big mess really...

you probably can get drivers for every device you have. if you didn't get a
cd with it, contact your hardware vendor. in the (almost certain) case that
no vista drivers are aveilable, you probably need to be looking for drivers
for windows xp sp2 / 2k / 2k3 server. just make sure to get the right kind
(x86 / x64).

Please forgive me for stating the obvious... looks like these are all USB
devices. Sounds like something in the USB device path is not functioning
correctly. Check Device Manager for bangs (exclamation points inside yellow
caution boxes...).

Also, it really helps to install drivers from third-parties using
Windows XP compatibility mode.
