I have a very old scanner, an HP SJ 5200C. Now before everybody laughs and
tells me a should buy a new one I will probably consider that option so I
just need an interim solution. I need a twain driver that Vista can
understand for this scanner or find out why the HP SJ software drivers will
not work in Vista for this model. The error I get in Vista in the device
manager is "A service installation section in this INF is invalid" Here are
the files the software needs to run:
HPSCNMGR.DLL, HPSCNTST.DLL, HPSJ32.DLL, HPSJRREG.DLL, HPSJUSD.DLL,
HPSJVSET.DLL, REG32.DLL So basicially is there anything I can do to make the
software work or find a twain driver (or something similar) that Vista can
understand to run the scanner in the Windows Fax and Scan program. Miracles
would be welcome.

Well you could modify the INF file(open it in notepad) and remove the
incorrect service installation section. TTFN.

The sj662 is a free download from the HP website. For those in the forums
who are perhaps far more insightful into the programming aspects, could
someone please look at the INF file and see what needs to be altered?
