share photosmart 1115 on 98se with vista
My neighbors have a photosmart 1115 printer that they like.
It is hooked up to a windows 98se computer. I can't seem to share the printers, or even have the computers see each other. I gave them the same workgroup name I can ping between them at the dos prompt. I turned on the windows 98se share files and printers. Neighter machine can see the other machine in the network neighborhood The vista machine can not see the printer attached to the windows 98se machine either. There are xp but not vista drivers for the 1115 photosmart printer. 98se drivers are original cd.. they are no longer available on the hp web site either. thanks Jeff Kish |

The 1115 will not work with Vista.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=58553&lang=en It doesn't matter that it's on a 98se PC, it just won't work. The only solution would be for the Vista PC to save all its documents to the 98se PC, then to go to the 98se PC and print locally. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Technologies - Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Jeff Kish" wrote in message ... You can use the Vista Deskjet 970 driver to print to the Photosmart 1115. I think that and the website Cari gave, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx should be enough to get this to work. Regards, Bob Headrick, MS MVP Printing/Imaging |

When a manufacturer says Not Supported it does NOT mean if will not
work, as HP say on that page you gave the link to. I've got old stuff that is "not supported" working fine by using Compatibility Mode or as Bob Headrick posts there is another printer driver that works! Nihil Desperandum is a good motto! VISTA works under all sorts of difficulties g |
