Default Build 5536 crcdisk.sys error on Toshiba Tectra A4

Just downloaded and installed build 5536 in the hope a problem with
Beta2 would have been resolved, but evidently not!

First boot halts and safe mode shows it stopping at 'crcdisk'sys'.

Does anyone have any workarounds/solutions please?

I would suggest wiping the drive and doing a CLEAN install. That may clear a
host of demons when it comes to file version clashes, and hardware issues. I
have noticed that 5536 has issues with some drivers as well. I have had to
install it twice to get the sound issue on my HP tower corrected.
When testing software, I ALWAYS do a clean install. Working with a clean
slate is the least confusing way to go. No worries about previous code of any
kind getting in the way.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it was a clean instal that I tried.

Something I have been wondering is whether or not it is crcdisk.sys that
is the problem, or the next driver that is trying to load. I have Vista
working on my desktop but I have been unable to find the logged boot
file to see what the next driver is. Can anyone tell me please?

Thanks
Salamat

crcdisk.sys is_always_the_last_driver_loaded. I've checked on a perfect
install of Vista several times, that has no driver or hardware issues.
After the basice drivers are loaded in Safe Mode, it does take a short while
for the system to actually get to the desktop. If it doesn't get to the
desktop at all, then you have a problem elsewhere.

Thanks Jane for your reply......I shall stop chasing around trying to
find out about 'crcdisk.sys' then! :-)

I have given the system plenty of time to continue, so as you say, it
must be a problem elsewhere.

The Toshiba forums seem to hint at incompatability issues with the ACPI
BIOS, so I guess thats my next area for investigation.
