Default Brother MFC-6800 Driver

I have the same problem. MFC-6800 that worked fine with XP pro doesn't
work with Vista x64. I am using USB connection and Microsoft built in
drivers. Scanner works. Printer doesn't. If I use "Print directly to the
printer" option in Advanced tab of the printer property dialog I am
getting the following error:

"Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print
troubleshooterfor assistance? Operation could not be completed (error
0x00000057)."

If I use "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster"
option in Advanced tab, a printer icon appears in the tool tray, printer
starts making some noise but nothing is printed.

Please, help!

Thank you,

--Alik

Uninstall all 6800 drivers. Reboot. Go to the Install.exe file for the 6800
and under Properties, choose the Compatibility tab. Check XP SP2 compatible
box. Now try reinstalling the drivers.

John, thank you for the reply! What kind of 6800 drivers do you suggest
to try: XP or XP x64?

Don't use 32-bit drivers with a 64-bit OS. Use only 64-bit drivers.

If you're running Vista 32 bit then try the 32 bit XP drivers. If you're
running Vista 64 bit, the 64 bit XP drivers.

I downloaded MFC-6800 drivers for Windows XP x64 from Brother's web
site. There is no Install.exe there - just collection of .inf,
compressed .dl_ and some other files. When I try to install the driver
using Windows "Have a disk" routine I am getting:

"Unable to install Brother MFC68000 USB, Type 3 - User Mode, x64
driver. Operation could not be completed (error 0x80360059)."
