The WTF Starts Now by
I think Microsoft should change "The WOW Starts Now" to "The WTF Starts
Now". After only one day of using Vista I've come to the realization that
it simply wont work for me. All of my hardware is supported, however, most
of the applications I require on a day to day basis would not run (or
install). I've been doing a lot of reading regarding these type situations
and it seems more people...

What's wrong with IT people? by
xfile
If you walked into a body shop, no mechanic will condemn or laugh at you for
not having adequate knowledge of car engine or ABS or airbags; the same
applies to almost all other industries that I have privilege of being
associated with. No artist will laugh at you for not knowing how to paint
or compose nor would an astronaut do the same, and the list can go on
forever.
Those professionals...

Vista Is Bad But Linux Is Horrendous!!!! by
[email protected]
I've spent the last 3 days attempting to upgrade 4 Windows-XP systems
to Vista and have had various problems with software compatability.
I've spent countless hours on the phone and technical support websites
and finally after 3 days I have everything working.
This fiasco has left me with some doubt as to whether or not Microsoft
has the ability to maintain it's position as the defacto standard...

Another BETTER Ultimate on the block! by
Mike Glenn
there is vista ultimate: costs a load of money
and there is ubuntu ultimate 1.4
http://linuxtracker.org/torrents-details.php?id=4323
this version rocks! I downloaded the virtual appliance for vmware and gave
it a spin...
The thought is.. if you are going to run in 1000's problems with vista, why
not take the plunge and use ubuntu instead?...

Vista & Dell Computers - Just a wee bit to get it off my chest! by
Gordon Keenan
I have (over the last three weeks) had the opportunity to work at different
places that have recently purchased new Dell Computer Equipment. A few small
business's and some home users, so it's been a combinations of Vista
Business and Home Edition.
My experiences have left me extremely cold on what Dell considers to be an
acceptable platform for the Vista operating system.
All of the...

Justin is really nothing more than another zealot by
DanS
Justin has once again shown by his actions, that he is exactly the same
as the Linux zealots, no better.
His original comment was that Vista runs apps much better than XP ever
could. He had stated an example program of something that XP can't
'handle' and Vista runs with out any problem. He goes on to state all of
the problems he saw with this program on XP, mainly that using it makes
the...

Would you really trust a product riddled with so many security
vulnerabilities?
How many Ubuntu vulnerabilities have not yet been discovered?

Why Vista is great - and people need to stop looking for things... by
Cody
to complain about!
Wow, do you people love to complain about great products. Go ahead, stop
your crying if you don't like Vista. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. Go use
a "wonderful" Mac, or use Linux and see where you get.
I'm sick of ignorant people bashing a great product. WHY? Because you've 1)
probably never used it, and have heard some kid who probably tried to pirate
a copy complain...

My zero-defect Vista - let the flames begin! by
Henry
Really!
No freezes, faults, crashes, breakdowns. Everything works
perfectly including my old custom stuff from W95 days. Speed is
about the same as XP. Vista repairs itself, defrags the drive,
protects my work, solves problems on its own. The sidebar has
seriously useful gadgets that make life easier. Files and
folders are now easier to find, in any of several ways.
I came by looking for...

Microsoft updates Windows without users' consent by
Silicon neuron
http://windowssecrets.com/comp/070913/#story1
By Scott Dunn
Microsoft has begun patching files on Windows XP and Vista without users'
knowledge, even when the users have turned off auto-updates.
Many companies require testing of patches before they are widely installed,
and businesses in this situation are objecting to the stealth patching.

How can Microsoft be proud to market this drivel ! by
DanielN
Hi People,
I have been a computer engineer for around 7 years professionally with
around 7 years prior to that self teaching myself all I could about Windows.
I am now MCP qualified and hopefully will soon be MCSA/MCSE/MCDBA/CCNA
qualified as well.
I have used Vista only a couple of times although getting a very bad feeling
about it having read many bad things and experiencing some...

A SAD SAD REALIZATION by
BarneyH
ok, I was thrilled when I was able to install and use VISTA last year (you
know the RC1 version) the OS worked great, I noticed the difference in
everything, and to my surprise everything except NERO worked. Then came
BLACK JANUARY. The day that the public commercial official release of vista
came to being. That was the day that the commercial from MAC joked about the
upgrade failing and...

MICHAEL

Microsoft claims that free software like Linux, which runs a big chunk of corporate America,
violates 235 of its patents. It wants royalties from distributors and users. Users like you,
maybe. Fortune's Roger Parloff reports.

Microsoft Taking Official Petitions to Keep XP Alive by
Clear Windows
http://www.neowin.net/news/main/08/05/30/microsoft-taking-official-petitions-to-keep-xp
If you can remember back a few weeks, Steve Ballmer went on record saying
that Microsoft would consider extending the life of Windows XP if enough
people asked for it. Afterall, many people don't want to upgrade to Windows
Vista because they are perfectly content with XP. The problem was there was
no way...
