privacy & security problems with vista by
MC1
I have recently bought a new lap top and installed vista. I am on a broadband
wireless connection along with my partner. I have ensured I am the
Administrator and have a password to open my computer. There are no other
users on the computer at this time.
My problem is that my partner can somehow access my computer and see what I
am doing on his computer - I saw him looking at a document I...

Error During Install of Programs by
Rogene
I have a Vista Business edition installed and it's been added to a Windows
SBS 2003 domain. The primary user has UAC turned off. The primary user has
been added to the local administrator for his domain account. The primary
user is unable to install any programs. Once we login with our domain
administrator user or local administrator user, then we are able to install
programs. In...

Blocking new account creations by
Ruz
Hi i am using Vista Ultimate x64 and i am just posting to see if it is
possible to block new account being made on vista. As i have a few
friends who are able to get past my password and create new account just
to annoy me.
If there is any way to block new accounts being made in vista it would
be very helpful.

Verifying the event that initally launched a malicious task? by
don_b_1
I found a malicious task planted in the Task Scheduler of Vista Home Premium.
This task is designed to create an illusion the computer is infected with a
virus.
Is there any way I can verify the event that originally activated the
trigger and set the task in motion?
I'm using a reverse engineered OEM version of Vista, not genuine Microsoft
Vista.

Do not trust the "logged on from" at Vista login by
HAL07[_2_]
Another bug in Vista (all vistas are SP1)
1. connect from a vista computer (computerA) to your home computer
2. Connect from another computer (computerB) to your home computer
3. When you come home, it's still displayed as "logged on from computerA" on the log-in screen.

changing time without admin rights? by
chaos
Is there any way to change the time in Vista Business without admin rights?
This seems like such a no brainer that users will need to change/correct
their clocks from time to time in addition to having auto scripts set the
time at login. But with this admin rights restriction, I would have to give
users admin rights or an admin user account info JUST to change the time?
Sounds like a...

Protected Mode:ON - causing problems by
PA Bear [MS MVP]
Jim wrote:
Whenever I try to print preview, print or add a favorite Internet explorer
locks up on my Vista Home Basic PC.
I noticed that if you click on the bottom where it says Protected Mode:
On,
a window will pop up and you can uncheck the enable protected mode.
Once I did that all issues were gone for me.
