Manually Changing Printer Drive on Network Pinter
I have a printer hooked up to an XP machine in another room. I am attempting
to access the printer from another computer with Vista x64. Vista automatically installed the HP Photosmart 2500 series drivers (it is a 2510xi). Those drivers don't work with Vista x64. I need to install the 990c drivers on the Vista machine, but the advanced options in the preferences (after running the prefs as Admin) are all ghosted so I can't change the drivers. Any help here? |

Manually Changing Printer Drive on Network Pinter
Create a new printer that uses the 990c drivers pointing to the same port as
the 2500 and share this out for the x64 machine. This way the XP box uses the 2500 driver and you don't have to change this around. Or create a local printer on Vista and add a Local Port \\XPmanchinename\printersharename for the printer -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base he http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
