PCI Simple Communications Controller
G'day all.
This is probably a silly question, but... When I installed Beta2 x86 my soft modem was recognised. With RC1, both x86 and x64, it is not recognised. I simply get the message saying that I should check the with the manufacturer for an updated driver. This isn't a big deal at the moment because I only use it for faxing, but I would like to resolve the problem. The reason that I think that this will be a dumb question is that I haven't seen a single post by anyone with this issue. So, does anyone know how I get my modem recognised? It's a Swann internal fax/modem with a Conexant chipset on COM port 3. I know that there are drivers for Conexant modems in Vista, but I can not get them to install. I also know that Vista does not see COM3 for some reason, although I can select it in the device settings under Ports. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Graham. |

Like I said, it was a stupid question.
I was trying to install it with the wrong modem driver. "Graham" wrote in message ... G'day all. This is probably a silly question, but... When I installed Beta2 x86 my soft modem was recognised. I have a Zoom modem with the same chipset, I believe. In the 5600 build, it
installed and worked fine. In the 5728 build it installs fine but when I reboot, I get a blue screen. I tried the drivers Windows wanted to use and the ones directly from the Zoom site, but neither one worked. I don't really understand exactly what broke--are the drivers different and not workable in 5728 or did they change something in Windows which causes the problem? Clark "Graham" wrote in message ...
