Default Camera not detected in Vista

Before I updated Visat I was able to use Cannon's software. After Vista,
Cannon's software did not work, but I was able to use Windows Photo Gallery.
Today, when I plug in via the USB it does not recogonize or detect my camera.
Tried the solutions via the Help and Support function but nothing works.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Have you tried downloading the latest Canon software for your camera?

Yes, I've also been emailing Cannon. They had me download an updated patch
but still the camera is not being detected by my comuter. Just a little
frustrating as it worked once with Windows and not nothing.

Which Canon do you have? Also was the camera switched on when you plugged it
in?

Called Canon and they suggested unistalling the drivers listed in Device
Manager and then trying the camera again. It worked. In any event, I
appreciate your assistance in trying to help.
