Default Preferred media player

Hi

I have a Creative mp3-player, and the media player that comes with it is the
one I like to use.
Other than that, I of course have WMP, but I also have something called Jet
Audio that I use to convert and edit files - and I can't just uninstall it as
I need it pretty regularly.

But it has this annoying thing.. Whenever I put in a CD, Jet starts to play
it, even if I have the Creative player open. Like Jet is set to be my first
choice. It's not! I only have it to edit files and so on.

I remember once setting preferred media players for different categories.
But it popped up on its own. I can't find it anywhere, whether I'm looking
for it manually or searchind for it on help and support.

Can anyone tell me how to do this, or if it's even possible to do it?

What you probably want to do is re associate Jet so it doesn't
automatically open files you don't want it to start playing.

Go to Control Panel, Default Programs, pick "Associate a file type or
protocol with a specific program" WAIT, and soon you get a detailed
list of all the file types your computer knows about and which
applications are set to run them. Change as you wish, follow the
prompts.

Example:

Scan the list and look for .mp3. Highlight that line, see what program
is set to open it, then if not what you want click on the change
program button and pick something else. The downside is you need to do
this for all the file types that Jet is opening and running that you
don't want it to. This can take a little time and trial and error.

As a short cut assuming you still have the install disc for Jet or the
install file, just uninstall it then reinstall and pick custom install
if it has that option then be sure you DON'T let it associate file
types if you have such a option. It still will play them fine, but
only when you tell it to which seems to be what you want instead of it
starting up automatically.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. It would probably have helped me, if only I knew what
Default Programs is alled in danish. I just can't figure it out, and I can't
find a danish supportforum.

This sucks.
