RC2 Install Hangs @ Completing Installation
RC1 installed OK on this machine but had a note to update Linksys NIC card
driver with ? in Device Mgr. When I did a clean install with RC2 - several attempts all froze after reaching the Completing Installation step - I let it sit for 6 hours and but did not budge. After removing the Linksys NIC and reinstalling it came right up. I then downloaded and installed the Linksys updated driver, shut down, installed NIC, restarted - came right up. RC2 runs much better than RC1 and seems significantly better. I would suggest that folks remove all unneccessary plug-ins (PCI cards) before installing RC2, then add hardware 1 at a time until all are up and clean in Device Manager. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. RC2 Install Hangs @ Completing Installation
Now, the RC2 install, I will say, took a little longer than RC1. I can only
imagine it has to do with the addition of different programs and scripts for bug repairs. "Completing Installation" took the longest of all to complete. I would venture to say it took almost 20 minutes at that stage. I don't think it was a hang-up though, because after it had time to "process" itself, it went along it's merry way. Performance wise, I can't say anything bad about RC2. it is just rock in and rollin on my system. RC2 Install Hangs @ Completing Installation
I did an update from 5728 to 5744 on both x86 and x64
without removing any peripherals and did not encounter any problems. Your suggestion should not be necessary.
