PnP Driver Not Found by
Bridgendboi
I've bought myself a Seagate 320GB External HDD (USB 2.0 - 8MB cache if
relevent) which i've plugged into my computer. It's supposed to just plug
and go, however the machine is throwing up a window saying "WINDOWS NEEDS TO
INSTALL DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR SEAGATE EXTERNAL DRIVE".
Of course, the drive didn't come supplied with a CD as Seagate said it
should plug and play. Eventually it...

Tether 2125 to Vista by
Tim Toennies
I can synchronize my Cingular 2125 phone to Vista using Mobile Device Center
with no problem. What I can't do is use my 2125 as a DUN connection (which I
could do successfully when my notebook was built with XP SP2). I have
created the connection and when I double-click the connection I see the
modems connecting message and nothing more. I can successfully query the
modem from Device...

Cannot burn DVDs, X64, Ultimate, device not recognised by
prcotter
My new Vista Ultimate system does not seem to recognize my DVD as a
burner. I can read data DVDs, play movies etc. It is a Lite-On LH-20A1S
SATA burner.
The system was built by me from a legal OEM Vista disk.
Processor is AMD X2 64 bit processor.
The only 'foreign' DVD software installed is RealPlayer V10.5. (ie no
Nero etc)
In Windows Media Player under 'Burn' it says 'Connect a burner...

Weird IntelliPoint problem by
Douglas O''Neill
I have recently installed IntelliPoint 6.1 for my new Comfort 3000 mouse.
However, everytime I either log out and back in, or when I reboot my PC, the
pointer speed and scrolling options always reset to their defaults.
Any ideas on this one? I'm running the Home Premium version of Vista.

Mouse diabled on start up by
Allan
Hello there,
I bought a laptop mouse which works fine all of the time - except when Vista
starts up.
On start up the mouse is disabled and I unplug the USB plug and re-insert
into the same socket.. the mouse is instantly alive and working.
Now, I would have thought that once finding the mouse, it would recognise it
next time Vista was started - but it doesn't - even when the machine is...

Toshiba N Vidia Ge Force G0 6200 TE 64M for Canadian Toshiba Tecra by
Peter Sanderson
The Microsoft supplied driver when installing Vista is not working properly
and the notebook does not run in dual mode and I can not connect an external
monitor or LCD Projector.
Toshiba Level 3 support simply came to the conclusion that there is no
driver that works at the moment and can not provide a date when they will
have one.
This is an expensive note book fully loaded with Blue...

Mustek BearPaw 1200CU scanner... by
Noozer
The hardware driver installs without any complaints. I can see the scanner
in device manager and all looks well.
I try to install the TWAIN control panel component and the installer
complains that the OS is not supported. I'm sure that if the installer
hadn't checked the OS version that it would have installed and worked
normally.
Is there any way I can convince the installer that I'm...

Memory less than that installed by
Chris
When I look at the system from the control panel it shows I have 3324Gb of
RAM yet when I look at the system BIOS it shows I have 4Gb installed, which I
do. When I look at the RAM on my Windows XP laptop it shows 512 Mb of RAM
which is correct. What gives?

Why has Microsoft made it so hard for my business?? by
Ken Fields
I am in the business of industrial electronic repair. I repair machinery in
all aspects of manufactring. I recently perchased a gateway laptop for my
programming needs only to find out that NONE of my software will work due to
the driver issue with Vista. Most of the OEM's that produce the needed
software have no real timetable for Vista upgrades. I cant take my laptop
back or put XP on it...

Can SATA and IDE CoExist by
Alias
Hello all,
I just bought a new Dell system which came with 250GB SATA drive. I want to
add my older 80GB IDE drive into the new system but the all the cables coming
off the power supply look like SATA power connector.
Is is possible for me to use the IDE drive in the new OptiPlex system? This
SATA stuff is totally new for me so I don't know much about how to get other
things to co-exist...
