Problem with creating Autounattend.xml file by
Mike
I set up an Autounattend.xml file and saved it to my flash drive and ran the
Vista dvd at boot up and the install went fine. However when I get to the
login screen and try to login it says the Administrator account is disabled.
I set up the option to set an Administrator password. Any suggestions on how
to fix this?

Vista RC2 x86 PAE not working. Only sees 3 of 4GB memory by
Peter Meinl
32bit Vista RC2 only sees 3 of 4GB memory installed on my Intel D975XBX
mainboard.
Vista RC2 x64 sees all 4GB, so this seems not to be a mainboard problem.
The boad documentation says it supports memory remapping, there is no bios
setting to turn it on or off.
Will this be fixed with the final Version?

Sam
On a Dell 700M Laptop 2.1Ghz Pentium, 2 Gb RAM, 30 Gb available disk space,

files were copied.
This was an upgrade type installation. I tried twice, once for an Ultimate
upgrade, the other for a Business upgrade.
I left the machine on overnight for the Vitsa Ultimate install but nothing
happened after the black...

WINRE by
R.Demandt
Recentely I heard from the "new recovery console": WinRE, that is based on
WinPE. I noticed you can start it from the Windows Vista DVD but on a Technet
briefing I saw WinRE installed on a seperate partition on the HD. Now I'm
wondering how I can install WinRE on my HD?
Thanks for any response,
R.Demandt

A Problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.
If this is teh first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in
the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for

Questions about installing Vista and WinXP on the same drive by
Oenone
I've been trying without success for some time now to get Vista Ultimate RTM
to install on a stand-alone second hard drive in my system (see the recent
thread, "Can't get Vista to boot"). I'm attempting a clean install, booting
from the installation DVD, not an upgrade from inside Window.
As I'm running out of ideas why it's not booting, I'm considering the option
of installing Vista onto...

possible to install Vista Ultimate on a 18.5 partition? by
Semjon Katatschkow
Will the Vista installer continue with the installation if only an 18.5GB
partition is present? Has anybody managed to install Vista on a partition
smaller than 20GB? 'Cause the minimal requirements say 40GB free space for
the installation, that's ridiculous. Will Vista refuse even to attempt to
install just because I have 1Gb less than required?

BSOD when trying to upgrade XP MCE to Vista Ultimate by
confused-plenty
Hi,
I am trying to upgrade an XP MCE machine to Vista Ultimate. The XP part of
the install goes okay. However, when the machine reboots, it goes into BSOD.
The message is very generic, and the error code is:
STOP: 0x0000 007B (0x87405BA0, 0xC0000034, 0x0, 0x0)
If I try to do a clean install of Vista (i.e no upgrade) that works.

space, as I was attempting to instal it to a 15k 18 gigabyte SCSI320/160
drive, but I hooked up my other 36 gigabyte drive and have the same problem,
still. I then added a...
