"Downgrading" from 64 bit to 32 bit. by
Don
I just purchased a new CPU/Motherboard along with a full (OEM) version of
Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I bought the 64 bit version without really
thinking. The CPU is 64 bit, so I figured I'd buy the 64 bit version of
Vista. What a mistake that was! Very few of the drivers that came with the
motherboard work, even though the motherboard is "certified" for Vista.
Printer drivers that I...

"Easy Transfer" download difficulty (to Windows 2000)... by
Nick Clegg
Hello! Can anyone out there help me?
I have an old but, I think, still fairly 'healthy' machine with Windows 2000
(long since updated with Service Pack 4, as I have noted is required for what
I'm trying to do here).
I intend soon to purchase and upgrade to Widows Vista.
Before doing so, I have been trying to download "Easy Transfer" from the
page which (upon clicking the 'validation'...

"Error loading Install.wim" During 64 bit set up. by
Surrealist
I successfully installed Vista Premium Home 64 bit from my retail version of
Vista 64 bit OS on one HD, an ATA 100. However I was unhappy with the drive
performance and returned it to the store. I also had an external DVD ROM
connected to a USB port. This installation process was incredibly long. Mus
have taken about 4 hours just for vista to run the entire installation. When
I did get vista...

"focus" follows mouse -- possible with Vista?? by
better_beta
some of the new tricks (displaying the open windows in a three-d "deck") are
neat -- but one thing I like is to have the "focus" of the window simply
follow the mouse, such that simply touching a window brings it to the
forefront for input, not requiring a click
I think this was a PowerToy in some versions of Windows and actually part of
the program in other versions (under Mouse setup) --...

"Location is Not Available" -- "Access is Denied." by
Steven Hilgendorf
Hello,
Why do I get the "Location is not available" box with the "Access is
denied" error when I try to access some files and/or folders through
Vista's Windows Explorer?
I'm the only one who accesses this PC, so having multiple profiles would
be completely overkill and unnecessary, if this has anything to do with
the problem.

"May not have installed correctly" message for 50comupd.exe by
Kak
I have an application that has worked fine for years with XP and 2K. When I
install on a CP with Windows Vista Ultimate (must be Ultimate), I get a
message box saying that 50comupd.exe may not have installed correctly.
The message box gives me two options, "Reinstall using recommended settings"
, and "This program installed correctly". If I click either, everything is
fine.
But, I'd...

"Move" a retail Vista to another PC by
Fredrik
Hello,
I am selling my current computer with a retail Vista Home Premium to buy a
new, more updated system.
I want to remove Vista from my current system to install it on the new one.
Will I have any difficulty to re-activate on my new system? What should I
tell support, and can I get any reference to mention that it is viable?
In addition, will it cause trouble that I am moving between...

"please insert a disc into drive D" by
annidragon
We just replaced 2 dvd drives in a Dell 8400. After doing so, we don't know
how to make our computer recognize the drives. Unfortunately that is why we
replaced them in the first place.... Anyway, when we try to use the "D"
drive we get the message "please insert a disc into drive D" even thought
there is a disc in the drive. According to the Device Manager, the device is
working...

"Please insert the driver disc" by
tomcasull
Full Version Vista Ultimate OS stops 10 minutes in and asks "Please insert
the driver disc" Which driver I ask myself, wow....any given motherboard may
have upwards of 20 different drivers (Not including Video card, etc.)
depending on how hard the manufacturer worked on compatibility? So I have an
ECS Elite Group G33T-M2 Windows Vista Certified motherboard. So I spend
considerable time...
