\Boot\BCD 0xc000000f error by
GreenFire999
I don't know the full story of this computer because it was my sister's
and they had it for a long time. The only thing they tell me is that
when they moved the computer in a different location and hooked it up,
it shows
Verifying DMI Pool Data.....
then,
File: \Boot\BCD

How do I fix/remove the bootloader after accidently installing intosecond drive/partition? by
Ant[_3_]
Hello.
I think I screwed up my old HDD's bootup setup on an old Dell Optiplex
GX280 test PC. I was trying to install three different 32-bit Windows
onto this machine for testing purposes. It is a single boot setup and
not dual/triple boots as well.
IIRC, this is what happened... I had slipstreamed Windows XP Pro. SP2/3
(forgot which one) installed in C: drive and made a Symantec Ghost image...

OS on a logical drive by itself? by
PeoplesChoice@Chicago.net
I've often heard that the OS should be on a drive (logical drive) by
itself so that, when it gets a problem, you can just re-install a new
copy of the OS on that drive. However, isn't the OS modified when you
install programs? Where would you install them? Can someone explain the
procedure for this and how it works? It has always confused me and, if
if works as I understand, I'd like to try...

autounattend.xml not working when en-gb used by
Mikoyan[_4_]
I am trying to install Vista using autounattend.xml answer file. If I leave
all location settings as en-us it works, if I change to my location en-gb,
the answer file is ignored at setup. Any ideas for how to fix this?

Windows Vista SP2 problem by
Peter O'Callaghan
When I try to install service pack 2 on the machine it fails giving the error
"error_invalid_parameter(0x80070057)"
When looking into this I tried the following.
Download standalone installer and perform the following:
1)Performing a clean boot and retry install - same result
2)Uninstalling antivirus and security programs and retry install - same result

hidden partiton recovery dell xps 420 by
itzmillertyme
I have a Dell xps 420 desktop with the hidden recovery partition.
My f8 option no longer works to recover to new (advanced boot options
menu) I do not have the "repair my computer" option I once had.
Can I unhide (with acronis) and boot from the recovery partition to do
this? I just
want to recover it back to the way it was as i received it new from
dell.

finishes I get a message to the effect that "upgrade installation disabled -
cannot determine if another operating system is present - fix boot record and
run again". I do not have another operating system installed. Anyone know
what is going on here and how I should proceed? Thanks.
