Error Reporting not Reporting Back by Robb
I swear I posted this question a few hours ago. It's like gaslighting myself. My PC is getting pretty unstable and I'm hoping the Vista error reporting service might shed some light on the crashes. But I only get a response back perhaps one in 25 times. Why so many reports? Besides the crashes, the MSN browser never worked well with Vista and has NEVER shut down right in the past 2 years....

Traditional Chinese using MSPY New Experience Input Style by Ayukawa
I'm having an annoying problem with this new input method. Last time when I was using the previous version of MSPY and I can have SELF-LEARNING capability enabled in both simplified and traditional character set (FYI basically I don't use simplified chinese). Now I found out that the SELF-LEARNING capability mode was greyed out when I'm trying to type in chinese traditional. So far I can...

Corrupted Desktop Icons by Microsoft[_10_]
Today I the icons on the desktop that represent shortcuts have all suddenly changed so that the icon seems to be behind what I think is the Vista default for a link to a non-existent program All the shortcuts are still working and if I try to change it to the (correct) icon shown in properties nothing changes. Can anyone advise me what I might have done to cause this or, more importantly, ...

Recover Administrative Tools default Services (local) settings by Skeptic
Vista Ultimate 64-bit I changed settings for several Services - disabling some - etc & made some trouble for myself. I did find some tech web pages that suggested how to edit/make large scale register changes - sounded risky. Can I return all the Vista/Administrative Tools/ Services back to their default settings - within Windows Vista - without having to reinstall or

Connecting peripherals by Tony UK
When I connect an iPod or a Western Digital external hard drive to my laptop, using a USB cable, I have to wait for a window to open asking whether I want to scan it or proceed without scanning. This can often take up to one minute to come up on the screen. As I am well aware of what I am doing, I would like to disable this Vista feature. I have already disabled UAC, but not this one. There...

Computer has an incorrect user name by Paul H
When I set up my most recent Vista laptop, I inadvertently entered the password I intended to use where I should have entered the name. Now many things that default to the "main user" get "PH1939", not "Paul". Can I change this? I can't start over - I have so much on this laptop now that I'd rather live with the inconvenience than start over. Must I live with the result of being...

Snipping tool won't run anymore by Will Pittenger
I have Vista 64-bit SP2. The Snipping Tool was running and looked nice to have. But after that first run where I was checking it out, it never ran again. If I click the icon, nothing happens. I watched the task list in Task Manager. That ever so briefly lists a new task before it vanishes. I also tried running the tool as an administrator. That had the same results. ------- Will...

I'm using Vista Home Basic and I recently installed Google Desktop which has its own Sidebar that overrides the Windows Sidebar Gadgets. After using the Google Sidebar, Windows Sidebar no longer appears. The UAC Control is enabled. Do I have to go into and edit the Registry with RegEdit? There must be a simple fix, somebody please help.
