unusual problem with external hard drive by Nikilet
I have an Iomega external hard drive and have never had a problem with it. I only plug it into the computer and turn it on when I want to do backups because I read that greatly extends the life of the drive. Today I plugged it in, turned it on and a window popped up that there were problems with it and I should scan and fix so that there wouldn't be future problems. What was checked was to...

Unwanted driver display by Bob Cowles
I have a Trust WB3240N HIRES webcam. This came with a driver on a DVD. Using this driver, there is no problem with the camera. Everytime Vista starts, it says that I have to download a driver to enable the webcam to work. If I use the windows driver, I can't get the webcam to work. Also, I cannot get the error message to stop returning.

Unwanted sounds by Sara
My Dell with Vista Home Premium is less than a month old. I started the process to install necessary components for connectivity with my LG Chocolate phone. Windows detected drivers and installed. I waited for the request to run the Vcast program but none came. Now I get this sound that is very reminiscent of a needle skipping on a vinly record. It is soft and in a repeated sequence-pretty...

What's the current thinking on this? Is it OK to do this, or is it still advisable to get hardware drivers via the Vendor's website? (Vista Home Premium....) -- Asking a question? Please tell us your OS, Service Pack level and the FULL contents of any error message(s)

My cd-dvd quit working and device manager sez 'driver is missing or corrupted, code 39'; but when I click on update driver it returns with' updated driver is installed'. I ran Driver Detective and it showed that the Intel 82801FBM Ultra ATA Storage Controller driver is out of date. DD then connects to a Toshiba website and I downloaded their recommendation. While trying to install their 22mb...

update to problem with Sigma Tel Audio drivers by robinb
I called microsoft yesterday asking what will be done via this problem for those who cannot get updated drivers for the Sigma Tel audio driver. The problem is Sigma no longer makes audio drivers and passed it off to another company who told me they are not making updated drivers at all for this type of audio codec. So how do you get updated drivers if you cannot? I have been on many forums via...

updated DVD drive firmware, now Vista cannot find drivers by chipsndukes
Hi, I just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, it has a TS-L633C DVD-RW drive and is running Vista Home Premium, 32bit. I updated the DVD drive firmware to the latest available on Dell's website (original D300, current DW10), which is supposedly Windows 7 capable. Now Vista is nagging me every time it starts that the DVD burner drivers need to be updated. The DVD doesn't need drivers,...
