SearchFilterHost.exe by Karyn C
Have Vista sp 2, 32 bit with Norton 360. Norton's recent history page shows SearchFilterHost.exe preparing to access the internet 25 times yesterday. What is this? I have looked around on this topic via Google and found that most complaints about this program (or service), whatever it is, are about it using lots of cpu's. That's not my problem, but incessant accessing the internet. I...

XP PowerToy by atyl7u
I installed some new Visualizations for Windows Media Player, one of which is something called "Microsoft Winter Fun Pack 2004". However, even though the link for this add-on was on the M/S Vista page, when it tried to install it came up with a message that it needed Windows XP or greater to operate. Seeing as I have Vista (I thought it was 'greater' than XP), I'm wondering a) why I can't...

MMC snap-in error in eventvwr by Steigenberger
I am trying to run eventvwr under Vista Home Premium Version 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. Eventvwr starts up and a pop up window shows that a snap-in is being added to the console (although it does not say what the name of the add-in is). Then eventvwr loads and I can see the overview and summary listing. When I go to the event viewer local panel (left side of screen) and expand the...

Forever to boot????? by Phil
Hi, I'm running Vista home premium. After doing the 10/13 updates my computer takes forever to startup. I've disabled most of the startup programs and when I check task manager explorer.exe is the only thing showing any activity and its 40-100 percent. The disk drive light is going like crazy. It was not like this before I did the updates. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Phil --

System Restore and Dual Boot by Robert[_23_]
I know that Vista SR points are deleted when you switch back to XP. Is there a workaround? I read that you can use Bit-Locker in Vista Ultimate to correct this but what are the steps?

Is there a way to arrange contacts by e-mail address? I am talking about the contacts that are available online. That was doable in the prior version of MSN. Thanks.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage by supergoalie
I'm new to Vista. I have just connected my new laptop with Vista to my home network (XP). No dramas. But when browsing the internet (IE7), certain websites won't load (eg Apple, Ninemsn, Microsoft). Eventually it displays "Internet Explorer can't display the webpage". When you diagnose connection problems - it finds no problem. I have tried turning off firewalls (Vista), uninstalling my AV...

I was trying to connect to a printer that is shared on a computer that has Vista to another computer that also has Vista. I am using a wireless connection within my home. Ubuntu for President! by Alias[_55_]
I had a girlfriend once, before I turned gay. She reminded me of Ubuntu a bit. Probably because I cum just as hard over her face as I did over the Ubuntu interface. She turned me off women forever, probably because she reminded me of my mama too much. I like to suck on her nipples too but I would never cum on my mother's face, make no mistake about that. It will never happen now anyway...
