Anyone knows a good disaster recovery tool???? by flora935
Hi people, I have a computer that was working very well, but lately when I was working on a important project, there was a power fluctuation for a couple of times (I thought that was normal) but after the last power fluctuation my computer refused to boot up. There seems to be a failure of some kind…..but I need to get the projects back that are still in that disk. I would be thankful if you...

Anyone trying 8GB of memory on Vista 64? by Noel[_6_]
I am putting together a new build and since PC-6400 DDR2 is sooo cheap I thought I might consider 8GB on an X38 board. I already have 2x2GB dimms, and was guessing if I went to 8GB it might be nice to have 4 identical DIMMS, which are still available (ie, another 2x2gb of the pair I have now). Anyone have wisdom about this? My main uses NOW are MS Flight Simulator, Gigastudio, and both of...

Anyone use HIS PCI Video Cards? by Rod Davies
My GeForce 5200 is my PCs 'weaklink; in Vista Experience terms. Only 128mb on board mem. So I have seen the HIS X1550 PCI card which has 256mb on board memory. Anyone have this card? Thoughts? Concerns? Vista WILL let me unplug the old and plug in a new video card without going thru re-activations, right?

HIS X1550 PCI has 256mb onboard mem, is Vista certified, compared to my GeForce 5200 (?) which only has 128mb and is my Windows Experience weaklink, so thinking of upgrading. Thoughts? Concerns? And Vista WILL let me unplug old, plug in new video card without going thru re-validation experiences, right? Rgds

Anyone using a Sony AR series notebook with Vista??? by Barry
I just purchased a Sony VGN-AR320E notebook that has a CD/CDRW/DVD drive release button on the left side of the keyboard. In the Sony literature and on-line, it says that if the button doesn't work (i.e. open the drive so that you an insert a CD etc) that the button on the side of the drive should be used. The problem is that the side button is hard to locate in low light and not easily...

Anyone using XFX GeForce 7600GT by JP
In Vista (Ultimate)? I want to upgrade my graphics card and was wondering if anyone is using a GeForce 7600 GT based card (PCI-E). Any problems? Drivers OK? Or suggestions for a comparable card that seems to have good working drivers. I've been reading about the problems with the nvidia cards...

Hi I know there are no specific 64-bit Vista drivers for the nVidia 8800 graphics card yet, but would like to know if anyone is using one of those cards with the default drivers. Does it work, or the sysmtem behaves poorly???? Thanks Edric

APC PowerChute by estoad2
I've used APC's PowerChute Personal with their batteries since Win95. Never had any problems with un-attended shutdowns due to power outages, all worked as advertised. Problem: PowerChute v2.1 for Vista, when a power outage presents itself, the computer shuts down at the correct interval, followed by the monitor and then the battery. Upon re-start, I get a "Resuming Windows" followed by...

APC Powerchute Personal Edition v2.1 for UPS: Not recognising Vist by funky_boogaloo
I have recently upgraded to Vista (what a nightmare) and when doing so, I needed to update my drivers for my UPS - APC Powerchute Personal Edition v2.1, for Vista. Yesterday my PC cut out; there was no power cut, but the PC shut off completely in an instant and the UPS the alarm was going off. It did not switch to battery? Rebooting the machine, it seemed the UPS was not talking to Vista...

APC UPS not recognized by No One
Hi everyone ... I have an APC Smart UPS 700 that works well and was working on an XP machine that I replaced with a new Vista Home Premium machine. As with most new computers, it does not have a serial port, so I added a new serial/parallel card that DOES include a Vista 32 bit driver, and Device Manager says everything is fine, no conflicts. I hooked up the UPS and there are no options to...

APC USB 2.0 file transfer cable won't by Paul
Any idea why this cable is not recognized by Vista (actually it sees it and starts trying to load the drivers, then says no compatible drivers found). Everything loaded fine on my XP system, but the Vista system refuses to recognize the driver. No luck finding an updated driver on the web and I've tried both a direct USB port from the motherboard and through a hub, all ports 2.0...
