Connect3D ATI Radeeon X1050 is 256mb GDDR, PCI/E and
"Certified for Windows Vista".
Vista initially finds an X550 and loads MS WDDM Drivers.
'Update Drivers' loads MS WDDM drivers for X1050.
Screen Performance is abominable, around 5 secs between cursor click and

nforce3 & Error 43 on AGP Video Card by
Brian K Lamb
Has anyone seen upgraded chipset drivers for the nforce3? Currently have the
Vista included drivers installed.
I'm running the MSDN 64bit version of Home Premium on a Giga-Byte K8NS 939
Ultra MB with an AMX X2 4600+. Under the graphics card in Device manager, I
am getting the infamous Error 43 (Your device reported a problem and Windows
has disabled it) with both an ATI X800XT and an nVidia...

Compatible TV Tuners? by
Brian Reading
I'm looking to build a custom machine to work as a standalone media center
using my television running on Windows Vista.
The problem is that for the life of me, I can't find a list of compatible TV
Tuners for Vista. I'd like to use Windows Media Center, but since I'm on a
budget, I wanted to buy used. I'm thinking about buying an ATI All-in-Wonder
card, but can anyone tell me just how old...

How can I enable my TV OUT function in Vista? by
Brian Richards
I have an Nvidia Geforce 6600GT with SVideo and Component OUT.
It was working fine in WIN XP.
The 97.46 WHQL Nvidia drivers don't recognize any TV OUT functions in the
nvidia control panel. Neither do the non-WHQL 100.59 drivers.

CD/RW -DVD-R/W Multi Burner by
Brian Schaaff
I know after running the Vista advisor that the old Sonic Software DLA was
not supported by Vista, so uninstalled all "Known" versions of it before
upgrading from XP SPF3 to Vista Ultimate SPF1, but somehow and Sonic/Roxio
support has been of no help, I still have a component of DLA that is being
Blocked every Logon.
This is an anoyance and a nuisance , not like the BSOD issues, but have...

Vista x64 eSATA Issues by
Brian Takos
Has anyone been successful on getting Vista x64 to recognize an eSATA drive?
I've tried motherboard connections and 3rd party hardware, and nothing is
ever recognized. Even tried a supposed hotfix from MS (sorry no link)
without luck.
Nothing shows up in the management area, and all other SATA drives operate
fine and BIOS is set to AHCI SATA.
Any suggestions??

Windows Vista and 2 Gb RAM? by
Brian V
Hi, Some people on the XP Discussion told me that Widows Vista only really
runs well if it has 2Gb RAM. I know that the Upgrade advisor states a lot
less, and that the Minimum system requirements is less also.
Is this 2Gb need/want true, in what cases, and why? Is it just that Vista
runs much smoother on 2 GB RAM?
Thank you.

Toshiba Satellite A350D laptop touchpad scroll? by
Brian V
Hi. My Toshiba Satellite A350D laptop came with Windows Vista 64-bit and had
a scrolling option on the touchpad. It was really convenient. There was an
annoying taskbar icon I believe I removed. The thing is, I think I removed an
advanced option menu from my laptop by removing the icon I did. Which
probably had the scrolling option in it.
I go into control panel and the mouse section. I can...

Battery life: CD vs. HD vs. External HD by
BrianB
I'm going to be sitting on an airplane for too many hours. I'd like to watch
some videos on the laptop and am wondering the best way to maximize battery
life. Which uses the least power?
- Playing the DVD in the DVD drive
- Ripping the DVD to the hard drive and playing it from there (if I have
enough free disk space)
- Ripping the DVD to an external hard drive and playing it from there
-...

Suggestion for small office NAS by
BrianB
I have a customer that has requested a recommendation for network attached
storage for their small office (four computers). I've tried Google but have
come up with so many conflicting reviews that it's frustrating. Some say a
box is fast, other say the same one is a dog. I'm hoping for some help.
They tried a Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB NAS. It worked fine
until they upgraded...

Internal Card Reader Drives Disappear by
BrianB[_2_]
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista Home Premium x64 SP2. It has an
internal card reader, a TEAC CA-200, that connects internally to the front
USB connector on the motherboard. When the reader works, it shows up at four
drive letters in Windows Explorer. The problem is that it doesn't work.
When I first boot the PC the drives show up. After plugging in and ejecting
a memory card a few...

Windows Aero & Desktop Quick Launch gone! by

Hi.
I recently used a program called One Click Privacy to clean my system and it
wiped my Quick Launch folder. I have managed to create a new folder and add
a few items, however, I can't find the Windows Aero item to add a shortcut to
the quick launch folder. Also, I can't figure out how to add the Desktop
shortcut to the folder (i.e. the 'Show The Desktop' option from the task bar).
