RC1 Install Error 0x80030309 by
pennhaven
I am attempting to perform an upgrade install from Beta 2 to RC1 and
getting: "Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.
Error Code: 0x80030309".
There is plenty of free space available on the primary partition. What
else could be causing this error?

New Scenario (to me, at least) by
pvdg42
Being positively impressed with Vista RC1 on a standalone drive, I'm now
ready to take the plunge on another PC currently configured as dual boot
(Win 2000 on C: and Win XP Pro on D:).
I want to install Vista on C: to replace Win 2000.
I realize that C: will have to be formatted to accomplish this, as it is
currently FAT32.
Should I manually format C: as NTFS, then attempt to install Vista by...

Dual Boot Uninstall Question by
Jason Saffer
Hi there,
I had installed Vista on my D drive with XP remaining on my C drive. I have
now formatted the D drive. But I still get a bootup message asking me to
choose either Vista or my legacy Windows. How do I get rid of that screen? I
presume there's a file on C that got put there when I installed Vista on the
C drive. Do I just delete that file? What is the file name?
Thanks for the help!

CD - DVD Driver by
Patrick D.
Hi,
I just wanted to install Vista RC1.
After choosing the first language settings, I was prompted to a dialog, that
a CD / DVD Driver, which is necessary, could not be found.
Since every Windows Installation CD I ever have seen, has the standard CD /
DVD Drivers on it, I just don't know now which kind of driver I have to
install.

Booting From DVD by
Schipp01
I have an AMD 64 32200+ , Geforce fx5200 video, and 1 gig ram. I have
installed Vista successfully from Windows XP. Now I am curious on the
repartitioning from booting from the DVD. However, when I attempt to boot
off the DVD the setup appears to start but then it goes to a black screen
with this little floating box that says Video Mode not supported. Just
wondering if anyone seen this...

Asus P5WDH Deluxe + XFX 7950Gx2 M520 by

Hi, I was using my vista RC1 with my old 6600GT PCIE and all worked
perfectly. But yesterday I bought a new video card (XFX 7950GX2) but windows
vista doesn´t support this video card with their native installation drivers.
When I start installation from DVD ... it turns corrupt with blue screen when
is trying to display desktop. Using safe boot displays desktop but he needs
to finish...

Installing RC1 on Asus Laptops by
Tom Bourne
I have been testing most beta build releases of Vista for some time now on my
Asus A6000 (A6VC) laptop.
Having downloaded RC1 this morning - a blue screen STOP message appears
informing me of ACPI problems. This is happening for both clean and XP
upgrade installation types.
I appreciate that this is more likely to be a problem with the ASUS Bios for
this laptop - but it seems odd that this...

Installing Vista RC1 on Asus Laptops by
Tom Bourne
I've been testing Vista Builds for the past 6 months on an Asus A6000 series
laptop (A6VC) and haven't had any installation issues until installing RC1
today.
Having tried both clean and upgrade installations, I'm getting a blue screen
STOP message informing me of ACPI problems.
I'm sure this is more a BIOS problem than a RC1 problem, but it does seem
strange that only this latest build is...
