add user from another computer to share by
apcdad
I too am having similar difficulties. None of the machines on my network
(XP, or otherwise) can share the files on the Vista machine. WE can see the
machine with the other workgroup computers, but the only available folder is
users and it is inaccessible. All of my file sharing between the XP computers
is fine. Any help out there?

Cisco VPN Client 4.8.01.0410 by
Hal9000
Hmmm.. just installed Cisco on a fresh Vista 5536 pre-RC1.
Installation went fine, no errors whatsoever.
VPN Client connects fine, but connection almost immediatelly dies. I need to
disconnect VPN to be able to use the internet again (via proxy, so only
limited to http/ftp protocol...)
Is there a newer vpn client version out there perhaps? I have 4.8.01.0410...

US Robotics Wireless USB Adapter by
spieler21
Hey guys, just installed build 5536. Everything works fine, except for the US
RObotics WLAN Adapter. The Drivers on the CD won't install, but Vista finds
updated drivers on Windows update and installes them.
But, it can't find any Wireless Networks in range.
I then installed the Software for the USB Adapter but it doesn't recognize
the adapter.
Any idea what could help?

Wireless problems by
Glenn
There have been many wireless problems posted, many are unique. Here is my
experience to add to the pile.
I have a compaq notebook that I dual boot from XP to Vista 5536. In XP,
wireless networking works fine at work and home. Home is WEP, work is open
(I know, don't worry, it's DMZ'd)
When I boot into Vista, I can easily do all networking at home, entered wep
just fine and no problems.

How to TCP/IP filtering options for IPv4 in Vista? by
Pushkar
Hi,
I was trying to set TCP/IP filtering options through Advanced settings of
IPv4 protocol in Vista, but I found that there is no options tab available
there.
This tab was there in Windows XP. Is this setting disabled for Vista or is
it done through some other way?
I have attached the image of advanced settings tab for XP and Vista.
Apart from options Tab, Registry values that were used in XP...

again but nothing seems to work. I can not see any of the other two computers
on my network either. When I try to create a network disk using my flash
drive, VISTA says it can't write to the disk. I have tried several different
flash drives...

Dial Up Connect Speed? by
Mikee
Some of us still live in the boonies and only have dial up. :(
Anyway, XP always showed the connect speed for a short time in ballon help
over the connection in the tray just after connecting. I must say this is
probably the only useful ballon help I've seen.
It's gone in Vista and it's now a tedious process to see your dial up
connect speed, double click tray icon (not right click) see the...

Cannot see some folders in NAS when in Vista Beta 2 by
mshanahan
So let me see if I understand. Vista has made an improvement to speed up
file lookups on my NAS drive, but now I can't see all the files? GREAT
FEATURE. I have checked and my MAXTOR SHARED STORAGE DRIVE has the latest
firmware, so it looks like I will have to stay on XP till all the
manufacturers (or at least mine) modify the firmware and fix it. Is someone
responsible to let the...

Cannot see some folders in NAS when in Vista Beta 2 by
mshanahan
I have just contacted MAXTOR (who was bought by SEGATE??) and they said they
are aware of it, and are working on the issue. Did not get a warm fuzzy that
they consider it an urgent issue??? The agent said "~I can't believe we
would not have it fixed for the release of VISTA."

I had the same problem with my ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe board.....no
matter what I did...always got limited or no connectivity......I went
from my Vista x64 to the Vista x86 Beta 2 build 5384 (as I have both
discs), and without any problems.....everything connects
fine......even got the wireless Realtek 8187L adapter to work in x86.
My advice......don’t use x64....seems to be too many...

Second Printer success! by
MICHAEL
Finally! I'm so happy.
I have two printers in my house. One is rather new, it is downstairs
I had no problem connecting to it via my network. My home network
is wireless, although, I have two computers wired to the router and two
computers connected by wireless.
I have my old HP OfficeJet K-80, upstairs. I've had it since 2001 but it
still works great, one of those "all-in-one" deals. I...
