System Recovery to RAID volume by rootbeer506
Vista x64 Ultimate I have a Raid 0 with 2x Velociraptors for OS and programs etc Have another Raid 5 with 3x 1.5 TB drives for storage. Had it set to backup every day etc. One of the raptors decided to go bad and I got the new one in. I have never done the system recovery. Figured out how to boot to it and it would not read my info off of my Raid 5, but it say my Raid 0.

Blue Screen: 1394 External Drives by C.B.[_6_]
I am running Vista Ultimate x86. I get blue screens related to an incompatibility/lack of proper driver for my two WD My Book Premium external drives. The drives are Firewire connected. Problem Reports lists the error as "KB960884-Stop Error when plugging in 1394 external drives". The problem has to do with unplugging one of the 1394 drives and/or having only one 1394 drive. I don't...

Vista Pro 32-bit, WSUS and Semi-lockups by AC[_2_]
I administrate a modest Server 2003 AD network with mainly Vista, but a few XP, workstations. Over the last few weeks three users have reported that when they go to use their computers in the morning, they get a black screen. The mouse still moves, but no login screen appears. The only way to get things working is to turn the computer off, and when it reboots, all is fine. This is only...

How do I enable Aero?? by ilyabyk83[_2_]
Hi people. I have a problem with my Windows Vista Ultimate, I no longer have Aero theme enabled, and, I can't select it from the list. This has started after I had to format my drive and install Vista all over. Everything else with it seems just fine. Only this "Windows Vista Transparency" is not working. There is only one place I can think of to enable it at, and it is not there. Do I need to...

Graphics by Connie[_3_]
I have a Toshiba laptop and the screen is constantly fluttering. The desktop icons flutter. I can't watch movies because of it. I would think it has to do with graphics but I don't know. I have Intel Graphics Mobile Chipset and according to their website the driver is updated. Any suggestions on what might be the cause? I tried restoring to an earlier date but no restoral point prior to the...

Windows Vista recovery disk making question. by kraut[_2_]
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but I am desperate. The wife has a box with 64bit Vista and someone ran a registery cleaner on it and cleaned the registery so clean that the system would not start windows. It went through the screen that gave the choices for set-up, recovery, etc then the safe, normal, etc start screen and regardless of what chose it would go dark and windows would...

Using BGInfo Command Line Parameters by PeoplesChoice@Chicago.net
I've read the Help file in BGInfo - but can't figure out how to use Command Line Parameters. When I click on my startup icon, I would like to invoke certain parameters. The line I came up with is: "C:\Program Files\BGInfo\BgInfo\Bginfo.exe /timer:99 /popup /taskbar /rtf:C:\DATA\BGINFO /nolicprompt" Obviously, this is wrong. My Target line reads: "C:\Program Files\BGInfo\BgInfo\Bginfo.exe"

Can I force installation of a daily planner? by nospaam
I have been using Delrina Daily Planner for (Don't laugh) fifteen years on seven different computers. It has worked with pre '95 Windows, Win 98 and even XP. I have not been able to install it into Vista. Is there any way to workaround or force the install? I dread the idea of having to hand copy all of the info to another program. The recurring events/reminders and contact info are...

Often when I start my laptop, with Vista installed, I find that some of the three icons, namely: 1. Speakers/Volume; 2. Network Connectivity; and 3. Battery/Power Meter; is/are no appearing. Being quite a necessity I am compelled to unfortunately LOG OFF and Re-Login or RESTART the system. I don't even find the option of the checkbox of speakers to be shown in the

Downloading Service Packs by Gene L.[_2_]
I recently received a response (in this forum) stating that it is possible to download Windows Vista Service Packs 1 and 2 and have them available for use by burning them to a CD. Sound great to me but I really need some detailed help on how to do this. If I should be posting this to another newsgroup, I would like to know which one. Thanks again for your help. (I am using Windows Vista Home...

Association de fichiers /file association by Cidtheo

Windows 7 Freeze when network cable connected by Clay[_3_]
I have been running Windows 7 64 bit enterprise on my Dell Optiplex 755 for two months now and it has been rock solid stable. However earlier this week I came in the office and attempted log in and the system was frozen. I have discovered that if I boot the system without the network card plugged in - it works just fine. I can log in and work normally (without network connectivity). But as...

Interactive services dialog detection won't disappear by dkldkl2@gmail.com
Hello, I've recently bought a new Windows Vista Home Basic. To my surprise I found out that it does not have a built-in fax software, unlike the Ultimate version of Vista, and unlike Windows XP. I installed Symantec WinFax 10.03, which seems to be running well, however whenever I start up my computer, I get a dialog box titled "Interactive services dialog detection". It says: "A program can't...

Pagis and Vista Not Compatible - Help by PLC
OK, I admit I was stupid. But I needed a document that had been transferred from my old computer to my new one. It had been scanned using Pagis so I couldn't open it. I installed the Pagis disc without even thinking that it was old and not compatible. I have since removed the "workings" of Pagis but had to use Revo Uninstaller to do it because the MS Installation Wizard didn't recognize Pagis...

repair corrupt system files after scannow cmd couldn't repair by Keepingitrealtor
I ran the scannow command, but the corrupted files were unable to be repaired. I'm told I need to insert the CD in order to repair them, but my laptop did not come with a Vista CD. Does Microsoft have a recovery cd to download, or is there any way I can repair these files without this CD?
