New blue screen error on Vista Home Premium after update by John Aldrich
One of my users at work brought me his system from home to work on. He said they had installed some Microsoft Updates and rebooted when prompted and now they are getting a blue screen error on boot. I know I can fix it by reinstalling Windows, but I'd rather not. The error occurred on Feb 9/10, 2010 after automatic updates installed something and prompted a reboot. The error we are getting now...

how to update the top folder Date Modified by Adam Johnson
How can I look at the top level folder date modified, I can tell any item inside all the sub-folder was updated or created? So the top level folder 'date modified' is the latest date. Current, in Windows, even the inside sub-folder is updated, the top level folder date is not changed. How do I make the top folder's Date Modified reflect the latest modified dates of any items inside the...

IE 8 in Vista will not search a specific frame, and URL history barlooks at hard drive. by long time windows user
I have figured it out. Microsoft programmers purposely screw things up so they can have a job fixing the bugs. That is it in a nutshell. XP was too functional, so they invented Vista to keep their jobs.

Full System Restore after resetting to Factory Default Settings - How? by Bren Tierney
Hi Guys, I'm running an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I noticed that it was beginning to freeze and just assumed it was Firefox upto its old 'can't cope with memory allocation' tricks again. But it wasn't. So, after the PC would no longer get past its initiation stage, and

Max RAM in Vista by Strider[_4_]
I have a PC (self-built) with 2 GB of RAM running 32-bit Vista Home Premium. I'm thinking about getting more RAM. Question: What is the upper RAM limit for 32-bit Vista? Half of the people I've asked say it's 3 GB, the other half swears it's 4 GB. (The computer version of "tastes great/less filling.") Looking for the final word on this, so I don't waste money on RAM I can't use. TIA. Dave

Hi: I have a Toshiba L455-S7980 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. Also installed is Microsoft Office 2007 Full Pro version. When I open certain files i.e. all ,pps files have a black border approx 2 in on each side and do not fully fill the display screen. I can see the full view of the file, but it appears boxed in due to these black borders. This also happens with some .wmv...

Repeated chkdsk scans at bootup by Tim[_18_]
My wife's laptop (Vista home) has taken to doing repeated chkdsk scans at boot up, usually after it has been hibernated. If it wasn't finding anything I wouldn't mind so much but it is repeatedly finding these orphan files (see image) so I'm guessing something is going wrong with the hibernation process. I *had* deleted the hibernation files in an effort to clean up the hard drive and rid...

ONLY 15 AND 1/2 - What you can do instead of using that crappy Ubuntu by Kevin's Psychiatrist[_2_]
If you have difficulty eating dog (s) dry dog food do not mix canned meat, try this neat little trick. We can use it with our three dogs and eat it! Step 1 Open a can of dog food and empty the mixer. Buy the cheapest canned dog food, you can find. The dog is from dry dog food. Step 2 Add 2 cans of water in your blender, with the empty dog food can. Step 3 A mixture of canned dog food in water...
