On my laptop with Windows Vista, certain keys on the keyboard have begun to cause the display of an incorrect character on the screen and in the document. u displays the character 4, i displays the character 5, o displays the character 6, p displays the character *, j displays the character 1, k displays the character 2, l displays the character 3, mdisplays the character 0.

My keyboard will start malfunctioning intermittently. When I type "asdf" the results are "asdfghjkl;’`\zxcvbnm,./-+\1234567890-=qwertyuiop\" when typed over and over. Notice that this is the middle row then the lower row and then the number row and then the qwerty row. This happens in Office 2003 programs when it occurs as well as other programs.

A work around that has worked for me was to format the brand new 1TB hdd on another computer running windows. I had to connect the brand new one as a secondary hard drive on a working system first, then open up disk management and format the new hdd using NTFS file system. Changes to the "Keyboard Repeat Delay" settings are not saved. The Keyboard Repeat Delay has defaulted to "Fast" which means holding down a key for just a microsecond means 2 or 3 of the same letter is repeated. This happens in all applications. I have a built-in card reader in my laptop. However, I can only see it in Device Manager if I have a card inserted. I am having trouble as, when I insert a card, the card reader isn't showing up - so I can't check the driver because I can't find it. I changed it recently to the most updated, digitally signed driver. Can someone help?
