Complete Meltdown of Vista Updates and Security by xistens_pet
My Vista Home Basic has stopped uploading Important Updates (they always Fail) but still downloads Office Updates automatically, I am now unable to download from the Internet (the file downloads but isn't stored anywhere), and my security centre won't allow me to turn my Firewall on. I've tried chkdsk but it comes up with nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions for any of these problems?

Which field in password credential provider is dedicated to domain by tomas
Hi, I'm wrapping existing password credential provider and need to know the username, password and domain. Username and password fields are easy to find among other fields in the wrapped credential by their GUIDs - CPFG_LOGON_USERNAME, CPFG_LOGON_PASSWORD. Is there a publicky defined GUID for Domain too? Or how can I correctly find the field in credential for Domain? Thanks, Tomas

Security Center: Virus Protection Not Found by MSPJeff
I've just installed Vista Ultimate and Norton Anti-Virus '07 on both my PC and laptop. Security Center on my desktop recognizes Norton under Malware Protection, but it doesn't on my laptop: "Windows did not find antivirus software on this computer." How can I tell Vista essentially to "look again"? Norton has blended itself seamlessly on my desktop, but I can't get Vista to recognize its...

First experience with Windows seven by Harry
I recently installed a beta version (build 7000) of this O.S. The installation went very well and on a previously formatted disc, completed in 20 minutes. All of my Vista software was installed without problems. I realise that this a beta version, and as such may be subject to quite a number of improvements and bug fixes during the next few months. My initial impression though is that this a...

I'm trying to make hardware and software work in windows-7. Permission problems, failure of older install programs to execute, unable to register dlls, it's a nightmare. destination folder access denied you need permission to perform this action by CapCity
I've been able to find countless references to the above message but the situations do not seem to be *exactly* like mine, or the solutions presented did not work for the original poster. Here's my saga: I had an XP machine die on me. There were 3 physical hard drives in there, and there are things I want to keep from all 3. All 3 were formatted and populated by the XP machine. I got one of...
