So this is what i did: a) press "esc" at startup and enter test mode. b) did a "boot up test" both memory and hard drive were tested. memory passed the test while hard drive stoped at 30% with this message as follows: #10008 - replace hard disk 1 1720 - S.M.A.R.T. It comes out to be Error ID: 1005 in the eventvwr.msc - and I get an error every once in a while that Windows Index Service has halted. I have done a check disk - and rebooted where it goes through all 3 processes in checking the drives. Any input from anyone who has dealt with this? Thank you VERY much... Mark

I have backed my data on a Acomdata with a Western Digital HD 320 GB (external drive). It worked on windows XP 32 but not on Vista now. WD says they have no driver for 64 for a 3rd party. Acomdata on their web site has none either. Vista does not recognize (see) in My Computer this external drive. How can I resolve my problems?
