Book recommendation for Vista by
Saga
Hello all, I have a friend that has a PC with Vista. She would like to learn
this OS more in depth and was asking me about a book recommendation, Since I
do not have Vista I could not recommend any books off hand.I have heard good
things about the Missing Manual series. Is Vista, The Missing Manual (David
Pogue) a good recommendation? What other book is recommended? Thanks!! Saga

opening readable format for excel by
Jim H
I recently purchased a used Toshiba with Vista. The system works fine other
than when downloading or opening an excel file either via e-mail or off a web
page. Word will down load just fine. I use excel a lot and it works fine from
scratch when I build a spread sheet. Any help in this matter would be greatly
appreciated.

I got a program that downloads crossword puzzles. It came as a zip
file, with four files within it. So I created a file in c:\Program
Files, and moved those four files into it. I thought that I would be
able to tell the program where to put the puzzles it downloaded, but
no.
So it downloaded them into the new folder....kind of. If I look there

Mouse Cursor Disappears in Media Center by
Dr Steevil
Greetings everyone!
I just upgraded my system to the new Vista Home Premium version. Everything
seems to work fine however Media Center would cause serious slowdowns of
video and choppy sound. I determined that the problem was with the video
card, so I just upgraded to a ATI X1600XT with 256 MB. Now Media Center and
indeed all of my visual stuff hums along quite nicely. However, I still...

Hello, my question is to verify if these statements are true,
I wanted to email these guys personally but
I understand it's better to share this with everyone.

make a menu when burning a mastered dvd by
sweetz88
So I can burn a dvd to play in a dvd player, and I understand a general
menu comes up when playing on the dvd player - but the problem I'm
facing is getting the -separate files to show up in a particular order-.
For example, if I have a tv show, I'd like the menu to show up as ep1,
then 2, then 3, so that they would play in order.
I'm not sure if this is possible with the windows vista burning,...

How to set default keyboard layout in Welcome screen to English? by
Alek Davis
When I configured Windows Vista Home Basic on a new laptop, I picked Russian
regional setting (language, keyboard, etc) wrongly assuming that it would
localize Vista. Now that I know that it would not work like this, I need to
switch all settings back to English. I modified all regional settings leaving
just English (US) keyboard layout, but when I power on the system, the
default language...
