Microsoft SQL Server 2005 in Windows 7 by Anatoly Kurilin
Hi, there are too many incompatibility messages during Microsoft SQL Server 2005 setup in Windows 7 and even during SP3 setup. So, will Microsoft SQL Server 2005 really work in Windows 7? Thanks in advance, AK

Installing second copy of Vista hangs by eldiener
I have a multi-boot computer with Vista Ultimate x64 installed. I have an upgrade for Windows 7 Ultimate but I want to keep my Vista Ultimate x64 bootup. So I try to install a second copy of Windows Ultimate x64 so I can use that to install the Windows 7 upgrade. When I attempt to install the second copy of Vista Ultimate x64, by booting from the Vista x64 boot CD and directing it to install...

Hello, I couldn't find a Windows 7 group, so I thought it appropriate to post my question here. I installed Windows 7 on an iMac in a Virtual Engine using Paralles Desktop 5. I decided to install it using a Disk Partition instead, so I sent Windows to the trashcan ( I couldn't find a method to uninstall it) and unistalled Paralles. Using a program on the Mac called Bootcamp, I set up the...

NTLDR missing on Vista - and yes - i've looked at other threads already :) by abercrombie1000
So here's the issue. I recently installed a new hard drive with a clean copy of Vista (32-bit). I only have one partition. It's been fine for at least a month until this morning when I got the message that NTLDR is missing and to hit a key to restart. I never made a backup given that it's a new hard drive, so would really like to not have to reformat the drive again as I have lots of...

Boot manager problem. Very annoying. by Alan LeHun
Every time I boot my machine (dual boot - 2 x vista 32 home Premium), the boot manager tries to take me into an incomplete, and unwanted, vista setup option which then hangs the machine. I want to delete that option from the boot manager but it doesn't appear in bcdedit, and that is about as far as my technical knowledge goes. Anyone know how to get rid of an unwanted vista setup option...

Reinstall/Repair WMP by lacolocho
I got a virus which I was successfully able to remove from my system but now Windows Media Player doesn't work. I get the following error: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/6/8/1/5/6/0/webimg/357378217_o.jpg] Clicking yes just takes me to their website where there isn't a version of WMP for Vista, only for XP. From what I've found there isn't a way to reinstall WMP for Vista. Is there a way to...

No "Check for updates" in Windows Update by Charles Lavin
Hi -- On a Vista Home Premium SP2 PC, Automatic Updates is switched off (right now on purpose). However, when I manually open the Windows Update applet, the "Check for updates" option at the top of the list is grayed out and inaccessible. So the PC is not pulling updates automatically, and I can't pull updates manually. Why? How do I reenable it? Note that I DO NOT want to turn on Automatic...
