Boot manager problem. Very annoying. by Alan LeHun
Every time I boot my machine (dual boot - 2 x vista 32 home Premium), the boot manager tries to take me into an incomplete, and unwanted, vista setup option which then hangs the machine. I want to delete that option from the boot manager but it doesn't appear in bcdedit, and that is about as far as my technical knowledge goes. Anyone know how to get rid of an unwanted vista setup option...

Activation by Mark A. Sam
Hello, I couldn't find a Windows 7 group, so I thought it appropriate to post my question here. I installed Windows 7 on an iMac in a Virtual Engine using Paralles Desktop 5. I decided to install it using a Disk Partition instead, so I sent Windows to the trashcan ( I couldn't find a method to uninstall it) and unistalled Paralles. Using a program on the Mac called Bootcamp, I set up the...

Reinstall/Repair WMP by lacolocho
I got a virus which I was successfully able to remove from my system but now Windows Media Player doesn't work. I get the following error: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/6/8/1/5/6/0/webimg/357378217_o.jpg] Clicking yes just takes me to their website where there isn't a version of WMP for Vista, only for XP. From what I've found there isn't a way to reinstall WMP for Vista. Is there a way to...

No "Check for updates" in Windows Update by Charles Lavin
Hi -- On a Vista Home Premium SP2 PC, Automatic Updates is switched off (right now on purpose). However, when I manually open the Windows Update applet, the "Check for updates" option at the top of the list is grayed out and inaccessible. So the PC is not pulling updates automatically, and I can't pull updates manually. Why? How do I reenable it? Note that I DO NOT want to turn on Automatic...

no more possible to repair the computer - windows vista by skynet
Concerns windows vista home premium sp1 installed on a Toshiba Satellite A100-819. The operating system is working normally, and also all installed software works fine. But it's no more possible to: - use windows update: after a while there is a message that no updates are possible. I have installed a program from Microsoft for 'auto' installing updates, but no help.
