Wireless Adapters by Doug
Are there any PCI card or USB wireless adapters that are known to work with Vista RC1 or RC2? I have had NO success with a Netgear WG311 card, a Linksys USB, and an Airlink USB adapter with the RC1 version. Does the RC2 version work any better with current adapters.

Release/repair TCPIP stack and WINSOCK in Vista RC1 by Whoowhee
I cannot get my computer to connect to the Internet in Vista x64 RC1. Under Network Connections, it shows my Local Area Connection 5 as being enabled, firewalled, and connected, but when I double click on it, I am told that it is not connected. I called my ISP and tech support tried to give me XP commands to reset some things. He told me my IP address wasn't being pulled by Vista, or...

Homenetworking RC1 So Far by Phil Nicholls
I have three computers that access the internet though a cable modem connected to a five year old Dlink router (for which I have updated to the latest available firmware). Initially I had a great deal of trouble getting the Vista Machine to connect to the internet. The same machine running XP connects just fine but to be fair I have always thought that it took a bit too long to make the...

tsclient by cpu
Using build 5744 (RC2) whenever I browse the local network I can see a computer named "tsclient". This incident isn't isolated - on a totally separate Vista test lab network I can also see yet another "tsclient" computer. What is it?

cant access shared folders by wildtrout
Hi , Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. We recently purchased a new Linksys WRT54G version 5. We have 2 PCs, both wired to the router. One runs Windows XP and vista RC1 on the other. We used the Linksys “easylink connect” to set up the network. We have set folders to “shared” on both. The workgroup names are the same on both. On both machines we are able to see all the...

ReadyBoost stops wireless service by Dazza
Hi there Since moving over the latest release of Vista I have been having major issues with my wireless service. A message pops up saying ReadBoost has stopped working. This knocks out the wireless and I have to ask Vista to resolve the issue. It then says that Wireless Service is not switched sn and then Vista resolves the issue.

Trouble using VPN connection by gaorriss
I've been unable to use a VPN connection to my work computer since I upgraded my home box to Vista. The interface opens but I get a "could not connect to server" pop-up and a "disconnected" message on the VPN page. I have settings the same as I did on XP, but no luck. Any suggestions.

RC1 VPN that works with XP won't connect by Rogueone
Hi, I'm new to Vista, just downloaded RC1 over the weekend. I'm getting things set up, and one of those 'things' is a VPN to my work. With my XP laptop, I have no problem connecting (this is a personal laptop, not a "work" laptop). I set up a VPN connection in Vista with the same settings, and it fails to connect. it doesn't give an error code, it does ask about diagnosing the problem, but...

Limited network by Don
Have clean installed 2 different builds of Vista-currently RC1. Links within programs or from Vista itself won't open internet pages. Outlook 2003 or 2007 would only send mail and not receive. Web pages could be opened by typing the URL directly only. Corrected the problem by installing Trend Micro's free for awhile program with no adjustments. Looking for help.

Remote Desktop - Able to have one user logged in locally and one u by Jake
I would also like this feature. Microsoft: PLEASE let the Ultimate Edition support one remote and one console connection. -Jake "Paul Murdock" wrote: I understand that Microsoft has terminal services for this exact reason, but for crying out loud why not allow at least 1 connection via remote desktop and allow the local user to log into the system?

Can't Disable File Sharing by Tmcdon05
Vista 5600 - I get the dialog box "...Folder is Shared...", etc. when trying to delete or when a temp file is deleted. When I go to "Sharing", it tells me I can't "unshare" the folder because it is in a shared folder. When I go to the folder's mother folder, it tells me it isn't shared! I am tired of the system deleting temp files and having to confirm each time. I can't be productive! If...

I have a problem, I would have to set a IP Adress manually, but in the Local Area Connection properties the TCP/IPv4 properties is not selectable. Also in the Wireless Network connection I have same problem. What can I do? Sorry for my English.

network pb on Vista 64 with Linksys WRT54GC router by Cristian Oros
hi there! ping works, sharing works, local connections work, but no internet. the router is set to static DHCP (gives IP by MAC address); everything seems OK, router passes the right IP, the righy DNS, gateway (checked with IPCONFIG). but browsing simply won't work, even with the site's IP. if i bypass the router and plug the net cable directly to the vista PC, everything works just fine.
