Passwords by
dudash
I have setup passwords in Windows to keep my children from using the computer
when we are not at home. My son has figured out a way to bypass, basically
get by the encryption for the passwords. Is there any way to encode
something into the system to stop him from getting onto the computer without
our knowledge?
Would upgrading to Vista help?

The Vista serial # sticker on the bottom by
SethR
I have a laptop that is about three months old. The Vista product key is
worn off--all but the first four alpha-numerics.
Belarc gives me both the numeric (numbers-OEM-numbers) and the long
alpha-numeric number. It does not start out the same.
The question is can I upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate using JUST the
internal numbers I have? It is a Toshiba OEM license.
Thanks,
Seth

Administrator account by
SethR
Toshiba, in their infinite wisdom, has "disabled" the Administrator account.
It cannot be created. System repair won't work since you can't log in as
administrator.
Anybody know how to re-eable it? I have Administator rights.
I view it as a security issue--MINE!!
Thanks,

Vista password by
outofluck
I bought a Windows Vista Home Premuim maching in August of 2007. I never set
a password. I just rebooted, and cannot log in because my "password is not
correct."
How can I reset the password? (I never created the password re-set disk,
because I didn't set a password.) Right now I have a boat anchor under my
desk, running Vista that won't let me into my computer.
Thanks for your help.

automatic fill in of password on installed program by
GFL4
I have an installed program (acerose) and Vista automatically fills in the
userid and password (in asterisks) on the initial window when signed in as a
user. I would like just a blank in both userid and password, for obvious
reasons. I can set up this way on my other computer running XP. Have tried
to eliminate but to no avail.

Programmatically setting user picture by
Alex Lomas
Hi there,
I want to set the little display picture you see on the start menu and
logon screen via a logon script (or similar).
I can't really work out how to do this - it seems quite complicated. I
can see a .bmp file is created in C:\Users\%username%\Local Settings
\temp (filename domain+username.bmp) and also a .dat file in C:
\ProgramData\microsoft\User Account Pictures

Hugh Bussell
I can't login to my Vista machine. I can see all the users on the welcome

that there was an unathorized change to windows, and it offers me a link to
online help. The link opens IE to www.microsoft.com/genuine. When I try to go
through the authorization process, downloading and running the code it asks

Reset or Remove a User account password under a second partition/d by
Bernhard
Dear XP Cracks,
I have a problem with not being able to enter a password (I do remember it).
When I upgraded the PC with a new harddisc, the shop people copied the
content of the previous boot disc onto the new disc. I subesequently
formatted the new disc and re-installed only the software still needed,
thinking that I could always recover the (-password protected) data under "My...

Seemingly I'm having Administrator problems by
Brian
Greetings.
Brand new computer w/ Vista home Premium. I'm set up as the admin and am
the only user profile and the only user. When trying to remove a program
I've tried but dislike, I'm told to log in as the admin. I already am as far
as I know. When I do check my user profiles I'm the only one, not even a
guest is set up and it lists me as the admin next to my icon. Any ideas?

Harm7
I have created a new user on my pc, Win Vista Ultimate 64, and when I try to
run Outlook it tries to install. The installation process errors out. Why
does the program have to be installed again?
Can I run the app as if the original user is running it?
I have run games that did not present this problem.

using windbg i am not able to open the minidump or memory dump files because
I do not have permission. I gave my username full rights but the message
