I had three MS Word 2007 docx files on my hard drive. I deleted them and emptied the trash. I immediately used some File Recovery programs to try to recover them. The programs were unable to find them. That seems very strange to me. Is it possibly because they are docx files? This is a relatively new file type by Microsoft, right? I have, since loading Win 7 x64, not been able to use ERUNT to automatically backup the Registry at startup. I recently had to re-image my hard drive. I was running Vista Home Premium with SP1 installed. After the re-image I went to Windows Update and downloaded and installed over 80 updates. I am reading in this NG and all over the internet that cleaning the registry is a no, no. I am also informed that the registry can/does get all messed up/cluttered with all sorts of stuff, from removed programs, old pointers, etc, over time.
