Help recovering MS Word DOCX files by
Marz
I had three MS Word 2007 docx files on my hard drive.
I deleted them and emptied the trash.
I immediately used some File Recovery programs to try to recover them.
The programs were unable to find them.
That seems very strange to me.
Is it possibly because they are docx files? This is a relatively new file
type by Microsoft, right? I am using MS Word with Vista Home Premium.
I should probably...

Win 7 x64 and problems with ERUNT by
Edward W. Thompson[_2_]
I have, since loading Win 7 x64, not been able to use ERUNT to automatically
backup the Registry at startup. It appears that if you elect for the ERUNT
default configuration to save the 'backup' to %systemroot%\ERDNT the backup
will fail. However, I have since learned, (Google where else?) that if you
elect to save the backup to another folder it will succeed. In my case I
save the backup...

DVD/CD burning problems by
David Olsson
I have Vista Home Premium x64 installed on my computer. The computer is
furthermore equipped with a DVD burner (Samsung Writemaster). I have problems
burnings files to both DVDs and CDs using Vista's built-in burnings software.
When I insert an empty DVD-R disc in my DVD burner the icon for the DVD
drive changes and acknowledges that I have inserted a DVD-R disc. When I try
to open the DVD...

Folder delete problem by

I hope this is enough information. I have a folder that I delete
periodically and replace with a folder from another computer on my home
network. The problem is a message that I get when I attempt to delete the
folder - "You need permission to perform this action." Permissions all show
full control. I'm attempting to delete it with an administrator account and

Vista SP1 & SP2 by
Bob Scheirer
I recently had to re-image my hard drive. I was running Vista Home Premium
with SP1 installed. After the re-image I went to Windows Update and
downloaded and installed over 80 updates. But I was not offered SP1 or SP2.
My question is, do I need them? All of my original programs that I
re-installed seem to be working right. TIA

Registry Cleaning? by
Artreid
I am reading in this NG and all over the internet that cleaning the
registry is a no, no. I am also informed that the registry can/does get all
messed up/cluttered with all sorts of stuff, from removed programs, old
pointers, etc, over time.
So what/how do you fix this if you shouldn't use a registry cleaner???

Something funny with fonts...? by
Jim Wood
I wonder if there's something strange going on with Microsoft Updates or
something. My wife's XP machine and my Vista/64 system both are having
font-loss problems concurrently... and we don't even share a network. Those
fonts in the list with the image of an 'O' are unaffected, but older 'TT'
(TrueType) fonts are disappearing from the system font list. We store all
our fonts in another...
