Read Win98se hard drives from Vista by
TheAceMan
Howdy All . . .
I'd need to access hard drives on an old Win98se machine thru my newly
aquired Vista machine. All I have at present are the two machines. I was
thinking of using two cards with a crossover cable but thought it better
to just ask.
What recommended additions would you suggest and is this possible at
all ... particularly without having to disable the vista firewall.

PPPOE connections created show up as Dial-up connections by
jackie
When a pppoe connection is created using the 'Get Connected wizard' or
rasphone.exe, it shows up as a 'Dial-up connection' in the network
connections folder. When you right click on the client connection created,
click on Properties, it says 'Connect using Modem '.

Vista cannot copy file from computer on intranet by
Howard Kaikow
Since June 2008, I have had a Windows 2000 system connected to a Vista
system thru a router.
I have several shares defined on the Windows 2000 system.
No shares are defined on the Vista system.
On 28 April 2009, I replaced NIS 2008 with KIS 2008 on the Vista system.
On 23 June 2009, I noticed that the Vista system could no longer COPY files
from the Windows 2000 system to the Vista system, tho...

Vista Ultimate won't connect to my other computers by

I have a home network linked by a Linksys router. There are three Windows
2000 machines and one Vista Home Premium all using static IPs of 10.0.0.x
with hard wired cat 5 cabling. No DHCP, all the same workgroup. I just
bought a new Vista Ultimate machine and it can see the other machines, but
when I try to connect, only one of the Win2K machines gives a password login.
Another won't even...

Mapping Network Drive by
The ZenMaster
Hi. I have a legacy XP Pro network with a workgroup name assigned. I have
two Linksys NAS devices, an old EFG120 and a newer NAS200. The XP computers
see the workgroup and associated resources just fine, but my new Vista Home
Basic machine can't locate the workgroup. It appears that the "network"
consists of just the new machine. All of the computers are wirelessly
connected and the two...

Vista needs user/pawd for WEP? by
Doug
If I set up my wireless router with no security, Vista connects OK. If I set
it up for 64-bit WEP it asks for Username, password and login domain, not a
WEP key. The XP notebook just asks for WEP key. Why?

Group Policy Preferences not applying on Vista with Service Pack2 by
Jostein Klemmetsrud
Hi,
I'm in the process of deploying Vista with Service Pack 2, and I'm using
the ISO which has SP2 integrated.
But now Group Policy Preferences doesn't work anymore.
The client side extensions (KB943729) are included in SP2 according to this:
