Doesn't see a keyboard or mouse now. by
lesdunham
Bought Vista (RC1) from MS and installed yesterday. It seemed to work fine
and shut down last night. Today after work I booted up and it does not
recognize a keyboard or mouse. Have switched both and rebooted with the same
result.
Any suggestions?
I can be contacted at or 586-216-4135. Thanks

Huge dump files by
ingbermr
How do I get Vista (Premium 32-bit) to STOP creating dump files? I
delete these files SEVERAL TIMES A DAY with disk cleanup and then I find
more of them in WINDOWS/Temp
We are talking 60-70 GB of files that are clogging my system, not to
mention how slowly it runs.
Thanks. If answered before, sorry, couldn't find an answer with the
search.

Vista Installation incomplete...died halfway through installation by
Astrof
Ok, so Ive been trying to install vista for a while now, starting with the
betas and RCs. I gave up on them, but finally go the full, real version. I
tried installing vista, but its not booting. I think it got stuck halfway
through installation (at the part where it restarts?). Apparantly there seems
to be an old bootloader, and it thinks that the installation completed. Well,
now I cannot...

home premium- no windows explorer by
DiDi
I have a HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. Windows Explorer has
disappeared and is nowhere to be found. I have not been able to get this
system set up correctly since I got it. They do not send a restore disc. I
am not sure if the internal restore is corrupt, or the discs I made. I keep
getting WIN32Rootkit-gen (trojan) - from Avast. The only way to get rid
of it is to delete Avast....

How can I restore registry from Repair CD? by
mel2000
In order to prepare myself for the worst, I need to know how to restore
my registry for the case where Vista does not boot and I have no system
restore points. However, before the failure happened I exported the full
registry as a reg file. I've read that the boot CD can do a lot of
repairs but I can't find a tutorial explaining how to restore the
registry.

Upgrade from 64-bit Business to 64-bit Ultimate by
kgries3
Ok, so the following page has a collection of Vista upgrades from one version
to another:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/anytime-upgrade-overview.aspx
However, it doesn't specify if these are for 32-bit or 64-bit versions. I am
assuming that they are for 32-bit. If that's the case, how do you do an
upgrade between 64-bit versions?
I currently have Vista Business 64-bit,...

New page button in IE7 by
Hollis Paul
I have WinVista Ultimate installed with IE7. The New Tab button in IE7
brings up a blank page. I want to set it to bring up my Home Page of
Me, with all my links, instead of the blank page. How do I do this?
It must be said that when I bring up a new instance of IE7, it loads
with my Home Page. So, that particular setting works properly.

Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion laptop with Vista 64 and a recovery partition for
the OS and drivers. I set out to dual boot Linux and Vista on this
laptop and everything went badly. I used a Linux LiveCD to:
1. resize Vista - did not know that this was a problem. Did it many
times to XP.
2. I deleted the recovery partion after I burned the recovery Disks.
3. I made a small 750MB partition before...
